Skilled Nursing
Coverage: Medicare Part A & B, Ohio Medicaid (with physician’s order and homebound status)
Who It's For
Skilled nursing services are designed for patients who are recovering from surgery, managing a complex chronic illness, or requiring clinical monitoring that cannot be safely or practically performed in a physician’s office. If you have recently been discharged from a hospital, had a joint replacement, experienced a cardiac event, or are managing wounds, diabetes, COPD, or congestive heart failure — our skilled nursing team is here for you.
What a Typical Visit Looks Like
A Novela registered nurse will visit your home on a scheduled frequency determined by your physician-approved care plan. During each visit, your nurse will assess your vital signs, review your medications, perform wound care or IV therapy as ordered, educate you and your family on your condition and warning signs, and communicate directly with your physician about your progress. Visits typically last between 45 and 90 minutes depending on your clinical needs.

Physical Therapy
Coverage: Medicare Part A & B, Ohio Medicaid (with physician’s order and homebound status)
Who It's For
Physical therapy at home is ideal for patients who are recovering from orthopedic surgery (hip or knee replacement, fractures), experiencing weakness and deconditioning after a hospital stay, at risk for falls, or managing neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease or post-stroke deficits. If getting to an outpatient clinic is difficult, home-based PT brings expert care directly to your environment.
What a Typical Visit Looks Like
Your Novela physical therapist will begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your strength, range of motion, balance, gait, and functional mobility. They will design a personalized exercise and functional training program tailored to your specific home environment — your stairs, your hallways, your bathroom. Each session builds on the last, progressing safely toward your goals. Your therapist will also provide a home exercise program for the days between visits.

Occupational Therapy
Coverage: Medicare Part A & B, Ohio Medicaid (with physician’s order and homebound status)
Who It's For
Occupational therapy is for patients who need support relearning or adapting the activities of daily life — bathing, dressing, grooming, cooking, and managing medications. It is particularly valuable after stroke, brain injury, joint replacement, or for patients with progressive conditions that affect fine motor skills or cognition
What a Typical Visit Looks Like
Your occupational therapist will conduct a detailed home safety assessment and functional evaluation, identifying barriers to independence and opportunities for adaptation. They will work with you on specific daily tasks, introduce adaptive equipment (grab bars, reachers, dressing aids), and train both you and your caregiver on safer, more independent ways to navigate your daily routine. Environmental modifications and caregiver education are key components of every OT plan.

Speech-Language Pathology
Who It's For
Speech-language pathology services are appropriate for patients experiencing difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), speech or language changes following a stroke or neurological event, voice disorders, or cognitive-communication challenges resulting from traumatic brain injury, dementia, or Parkinson’s disease. If eating, speaking, or thinking through problems has become difficult, our SLPs are here to help.
What a Typical Visit Looks Like
Your speech-language pathologist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your communication abilities and/or swallowing function. They will develop a personalized treatment plan that may include swallowing exercises and diet texture modifications, language and speech exercises, cognitive communication strategies, and caregiver training. Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes and are built around your daily routines and goals.

Home Health Aide Services
Who It's For
Home health aide services are for patients who need assistance with personal care activities — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and safe mobility — while also receiving skilled nursing or therapy. Our aides provide critical day-to-day support that preserves dignity, promotes hygiene, and reduces caregiver burden on family members.
What a Typical Visit Looks Like
Your Novela home health aide will assist you with your personal care routine in a way that respects your preferences, your pace, and your privacy. Visits are scheduled to align with your daily routines — morning care, afternoon support, or as your plan requires. Aides document each visit and report any changes in condition to your supervising nurse promptly.

DODD Waiver Nursing
Who It's For
Novela Home Health is proud to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through Ohio’s DODD Home and Community-Based Services waivers. Our DODD nursing services support individuals living in their own homes, family homes, or residential settings — providing skilled nursing care that complements their individualized support plan and honors their rights and autonomy.
What a Typical Visit Looks Like
Our DODD-qualified nurses work in close partnership with the individual’s support team — including their SSA, residential provider, and family — to deliver skilled nursing care that is integrated into their daily life. Services may include health monitoring, medication administration and management, health education, nursing consultation, and crisis prevention planning. Visits are designed to be supportive and empowering, never clinical or institutional in feel.

Every person served by Novela’s DODD program is seen as exactly what they are — a whole person with rights, preferences, and goals. Our nurses receive specialized training in person-centered care and disability rights. We are partners with our DODD families, not providers delivering services from a distance.
